Abstract
The article reveals the interrelation between France's policy towards its mandated possessions in the Middle East on the eve of World War II and its relationship with Turkey from January to August 1939. Along with other sources, the article uses the documents of the personal archive of the French Ambassador to Turkey Rene Massigli.
