Abstract

In the article the author marks the value of the 300^th anniversary of the Poltava battle as in the history of Russia and Sweden, and also European context, he gives the compressed analysis of the modern state of the domestic historiography. The Attempt is undertaken to consider the modern, sometimes excessively politized interpretations of relations of Sweden with Ukraine, Charles XII with Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
