Abstract

The article considers the interpretations of annalistic recital of «testament» of the Kiev Prince Yaroslav I (1054) in the works of the first Russian historians. The evolution of historiography idea is traced from retelling of annalistic texts in the 18^th century to the conceptual interpretations of the first third of the 19^th centuries, related to forming of ideas about community of feudal society in Ancient Rus’ and Medieval Europe. This analysis allows to describe these stages of development of historical thought as pre-conceptual and conceptual.
