Abstract
Taiwan does its best to demonstrate its presence in Latin America: in the countries of Central America as well as in the Caribbean. This manifests itself  in bilateral political contacts , economic cooperation. Taipei, within its own potential and the potentials of its South American allies, calls in question the status of Beijing as a leader of the Third World.
