Abstract
The article deals with the debate about the situation of the Catholic Church in the United States in the early postwar years. It is noted that the controversy between the Catholic and Protestant intellectuals often turned into the usual polemic, but in the end, Catholics and Protestants were able to establish modus vivendi.
