Abstract
The aim of the article is to show immigration policy and public opinion in Japan, which faces a rapidly aging population, low birthrate and labor shortages. Although the Japanese government express deep concerns about demographic problems, there in no much evidence to hope that in the nearest future there will be important changes in the immigration policy.
