- The article discusses the confrontation between Catholics and Protestants, which became one of the important factors in the development of the United States in modern times; the feuds of Protestants and Catholics - one of the main social conflicts in US history. The article explores the position of Protestants and Catholics in the United States, the political aspirations of religious communities, the origins of their enmity and the outcome of the confrontation by 1860.
