Abstract
In the documentary essay are considered the events of spring - autumn 1942 on the Soviet-German front, the plans of Germany on return of a strategic initiative and fi nal defeat of the USSR, the measures undertaken by the command of Red Army for achievement of a fi nal change in war and its fatal mistakes, predetermined Wehrmacht break to Volga are analyzed. The assessment to little-known operations for the general course of opposition is given, on the basis of new documents the motives of key solutions of the Soviet and German command, infl uence on plans of the parties of geopolitical factors are analyzed.
