- Abstract
The article is a critical analysis of the old Russia's widespread public prejudices against the Imperial diplomatic service portrayed as presumably infested by "foreigners" alien to the country's national interest. This kind of mythology is seen, however, as a reflection of deep changes in Russian public opinion after mid-XIX century Reforms.
