Abstract
In the article on the basis of new sources, in particular the materials of the Historical archive of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Italy, the policy of fascist Italy and its leader B. Mussolini on the eve of the Second World War is considered. The author comes to a conclusion that Mussolini, having cast in the lot of the country and own with Hitlerite Germany, has predetermined defeat of Italy in the war and the own destruction.
