Abstract
The article analyzes entrepreneurship in the light of the views of Karl Marx and J. Schumpeter. The logic of its development in the XIX–XXI centuries is revealed. An attempt was made to identify the personality of the entrepreneur. The function of entrepreneurship, its properties, forms, place in the social structure of society, the specifics of the entrepreneur in comparison with the owner, Manager, etc. are revealed. Some problems of entrepreneurship development in Russia have been raised.
