- Abstract
- Cultural sources and specifics of nowadays American apocalypses culture, that is a massive of literary and cinematographic texts on the Dooms day, are considered. The author notes close interlacing of traditional European plots, both apocalyptic and lore, with modern scientific ideas. The authors of the books and films give some scientific motivation even for emerging of vampires and zombie that are quite prolific in such texts. The connection between many apocalypses culture images, on the one hand, and modern evolutionary and environmentalist ideas on the other.
